Abstract
The prese nt in vestigation designs a systematic method for findin g the latent I'oots and t he prin cipa l axes of a matrix, with out redu cing t he order of the matri x. It is characteri zed by a wide fi eld of appli cabili ty a nd great accuracy, since t he a ccum ulatio n of ro undi ng errors is a vo ided, t hrough t he p rocess of " minimized ite ratio ns". Moreover, t he mcthod leads to a we ll co nve rge nt s uccessive a pp rox imatio n proccd ure by whi ch t he solu tion of in tegra l eq uatio ns of the Fred holm t .v pe a nd t he solu tion of t he eige nvalue problem of lin ear dilleren tia l a nd integ ra l o perators rn ay be accomplished .
